Inclusivity Statement

I am aware that as a white, working-class woman raised and living in Western society, that I have many privileges. I have also lived experience of discrimination in relation to class, gender and sexual orientation. This informs how I see the world, with it’s challenges and opportunities for growth.

I aim to do the work necessary, to raise my consciousness and take responsibility for all the privilege that has been afforded to me. This is deeply aligned with my spiritual practice as a Buddhist and is something I’ve been committed to throughout my life.

That means I live my life awake to racism, ableism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, classism and ageism, (to name but a few). Through this awareness I commit to act in ways that challenge these views (or actions) stemming from them, however they present themselves, whenever I can.

I am aware that I am an evolving human being that will make mistakes, get it wrong sometimes, and through this ignorance, may hurt someone. I commit to staying open to keep learning, with humility, and to not shut down because I feel defensive.

If there is anything I say or do that leaves you feeling unseen or hurt at all, I would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with you to address this.
